Folsom Field
Folsom Field is an outdoor college football stadium located on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder, United States, It is the home field of the Colorado Buffaloes of the Big 12 Conference. Opened in 1924, the horseshoe-shaped stadium has a traditional north–south configuration, opening to the north. The University's athletic administration center, named after 1950s head coach Dal Ward, is located at the north end. The playing field returned to natural grass in 1999 and sits at an elevation of , more than a mile above sea level. Folsom Field is the third highest stadium in FBS college football, behind only Wyoming and Air Force of the Mountain West Conference. The 2016 Utah Utes football team represented the University of Utah during the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by twelfth year head coach Kyle Whittingham and played their home games in Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. Fred Folsom
Fred Gorham Folsom (November 9, 1873 – November 11, 1944) was an American football player, coach of football and baseball, lawyer, and law professor. He served as the head football coach at the University of Colorado Boulder (1895–1899, 1901–1902, 1908–1915) and at Dartmouth College from (1903–1906), compiling a career college football record of 106–28–6. Folsom played football at Dartmouth from 1892 to 1894. He was also the head baseball coach at Colorado in 1898 and 1899, tallying a mark of 6–6. Folsom practiced law in Denver and Boulder, Colorado, Boulder and taught at the University of Colorado Law School from 1905 to 1943. George Norlin
George Norlin (April 1, 1871 – March 31, 1942) was president of the University of Colorado. During his tenure as president, Norlin oversaw the redesign of the campus in Boulder, Colorado. Biography Norlin was born in Concordia, in Cloud County, Kansas, the son of Swedish immigrant parents. He was educated at Hastings College and at the University of Chicago. He also attended the Sorbonne in Paris. Professor Norlin taught Greek language and literature at the University of Colorado from 1899 to 1917. He was named acting president of the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1917. By appointment of Columbia University, Norlin spent the 1932-33 year as Theodore Roosevelt Professor of American Life and Institutions at the University of Berlin. The 1924 Colorado Silver and Gold football team was an American football team that represented the University of Colorado as a member of the Rocky Mountain Conference (RMC) during the 1924 college football season. In its fifth year under head coach Myron E. Witham, the team compiled an 8–1–1 record (5–0–1 against RMC opponents), won the conference championship, was not scored upon during the regular season, lost a postseason game to undefeated Hawaii in the Poi Bowl, and outscored all opponents by a total of 237 to 13. The team's string of nine consecutive shutouts remains the longest in program history. On October 11, 1924, the team played its first game at the newly-constructed Colorado Stadium. Gamble Field
Gamble Field was an outdoor sports stadium in the western United States, located on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder. It was the predecessor of Folsom Field. History Opened in 1901 on September 21, it was built via the efforts of the university's student body. The field was named after Judge Harry P. Gamble, a six-time (1891–96) football letterman and two-time captain. Seating capacity was initially limited to 1,000 via a wooden grandstand located on the western side of the field, the only side that had seating. The elevation of the playing field was just over above sea level.
